Earlier this year, it was announced that Metallica frontman James Hetfield would be narrating the documentary Addicted to Porn: Chasing the Cardboard Butterfly. Now, you can hear the first piece of Hetfield’s narration in a newly released trailer for the doc.

The documentary explores the topic of pornography being a potentially harmful piece of society. “In this controversial film, award-winning filmmaker Justin Hunt dissects the impact of pornography on societies around the globe, from how it affects the brain of the individual, to how modern technology leads to greater exposure to youth, to watching it literally tear a family apart,” an official synopsis reads. “In what may well be one of the most devastating issues in modern culture, this film will break down the damage that porn is doing to us a human race and leave you thinking that it’s clearly time that we start taking porn addiction a bit more seriously.”

James Hetfield’s voice passionately reflects the ideology of the filmmakers, tackling tough subjects like the ever-increasing accessibility of pornography to children. “Our children are potentially exposed to massive amounts of pornography on a daily basis by the tap of a finger,” Hetfield says. “It is teaching them a lie. It is belittling spouses, emasculating men and destroying the beautiful essence of women.”

Hetfield goes on, “Admit it or not, it is here and it is harmful, and that is precisely the sole purpose of this film. It is to shine a light onto a darkness that looms over us as a human race.”

Pretty dramatic stuff! You can now watch Addicted to Porn via Amazon, iTunes, Vimeo and numerous cable networks in the U.S. and Canada. Listen to Hetfield in the teaser above and get more info on the documentary at its official website.
