Meijer just opened its first Bridge Street Market grocery store in downtown Grand Rapids.

According to WOOD TV, Bridge Street Market opened at 8 a.m. followed by a ceremonial ribbon cutting at 10 a.m.

Meijer kicked off the festivities by donating $5,000 to five different local charities.

There has been a lot of excitement for residents who have been waiting a long time for the market to open. It's a great opportunity for all those that live downtown to not have to travel to the suburbs to shop.

There is a reason Market is in the name, since there is a huge emphasis on fresh produce for Bridge Street Market. There will be plenty of Meijer and national brand items to choose from as well.

For a downtown grocery store, the set up is massive with 37,000 square feet of shopping space and of course, a built-in coffee shop.

The hours for Bridge Street Market are 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. You can find the market on Grand Rapids' West Side on Bridge Street between Stocking and Seward Avenues.
