Earlier this week, a Denver man filed a $30 million lawsuit against the Denver Police Department after spending 13 years in prison for a murder that he didn't commit.

Back in 2000, in a very Making a Murderer-esque case, 14-year-old Lawrence Lorenzo Montoya was questioned for nearly three hours with no lawyer present. The police questioning him were looking for information on a murder and, despite saying over 60 times that he had nothing to do with it (which he didn't), they managed to get Montoya to confess.

That confession lead to a conviction, which put Montoya behind bars for 13 years, until DNA evidence recently proved his innocence.

Montoya is now suing the Denver Police Department for $30 million. And we think he deserves every single penny.
