On Friday, Phil Anselmo shocked people by throwing a Nazi salute and screaming "White Power" to end the Dimebash, a star-studded evening of metal and celebration of Dimebag from Pantera. Phil "performed" at the show, and when things ended, he wrapped up the show in his own messed up way. Check out my original post here.

Phil and a lot of people have tried to mitigate what happened, claiming people need to "grow thicker skin".

Well, a lot of other people are not letting him off the hook. Metal Sucks has a scathing column telling people that we all need to stop letting Phil off the hook for his b***s***. Read that here. He's been doing it for decades, and no one will say anything about it.

In the above video, Rob Flynn from Machine Head shares his thoughts about Phil's statements, and people giving him a break.

"No bands will call him on it."

Here's what Metal Sucks thinks is the reason no one will call him on his racist remarks:

So why does the metal community continue to let behavior like this slide?

The simple answer is: we’re cowards.

My opinion:

Pantera put out some great music, but it's been a long time we've let Phil slide on this crap. It's not like he's even been putting out amazing music since, or even been a great performer. His live performances are terrible, he comes across as arrogant and condescending.

And he spews hatred.

Please metal community, DO NOT LET HIM SLIDE ON THIS JUST BECAUSE HE USED TO BE IN A GREAT BAND.

It's insulting to everyone in metal to let this slide. This s*** shouldn't be tolerated. Our society has fought hard for everything we've built this country into, and we shouldn't allow people to slide on being douchebags.

Does he have the legal right to say the words? Yes.

Does he deserve for all of us to turn our back on him and his racist BS? YES.

If you let him slide, you're saying it's okay. It's not.
