It starts with a text message, and ends with your Social Security and credit card numbers being placed in the hands of criminals.

The Kent County Sheriff's Department says the text message claims to represent a bank and asks people to call a certain number because of a security issue.

Authorities say to contact your bank if you have any concerns about potential security issues.
