Following an evening and overnight of intense rainfall, thousands were thrown out of their morning commute routine in Kalamazoo after flooding closed several main roads.

Among the worst affected roadways were Crosstown Parkway and the streets that cross Portage Creek just south of Downtown Kalamazoo.

Below are photos and video of the aftermath of the August 15-16 rainfall. This is the same system that brought deadly flooding to Louisiana.

Other portions of southwest Michigan had flooding to contend with, as a portion of M-60 in Cass County was closed due to water on the highway.
