Jackie Races The Dopey Challenge: Part 1
Whew! It has been a long, long week for me folks.
Well, I ended up having to go to the hospital for a super bad case of strep throat! Yuk!
It was awful, and I didn't know adults still got sick like that. I thought that was like a kid thing. I was most definitely wrong!
The doc prescribed me some antibiotics, and I got stuck sitting at home watching awful television shows waiting for my throat to heal.
As many of you know, I have been planning this trip to Florida for the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend and The Dopey Challenge for months!
Well, of course, it fell on this week, the week I was sick.
Good news is I am about 70 percent on the health-o-meter right now. Today was the 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) run in The Dopey Challenge.
If you don't know what the challenge is, let me break it down.
Thursday is a 5K; Friday is a 10K (6.2 miles); Saturday is a half-marathon (13.1 miles); and Sunday is a marathon (26.2 miles).
I'm a very costume-oriented person (big shock), and for today's 5K I went as the green Power Ranger! Tommy! He's clearly the best one.
I got a little excited and ran the race a tad faster than intended. I finished in 20 minutes, 56 seconds. That's not near my best, but that's still a pretty fast time for a stupid sick kid.
I vow tomorrow will not be as fast. We'll see.
I'll do updates on the adventures of The Dopey Challenge.
So far, it hasn't been challenging considering I only ran a 5K. But once I run the rest, I may feel a bit differently.
