Jack White Bashes Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach in Angry E-Mail to Estranged Wife
Third Man Records head honcho Jack White has usually kept himself out of tabloid fodder over the years. However, things have gotten a little messy after it was revealed White was hit with a restraining order from the mother of his children, Karen Elson.
As SPIN reports, Elson filed the restraining order against White because of his alleged temper over the custody of their children. Elson currently takes care of their 5-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter and claims White isn't fit to share custody with her. The restraining order states that the former Mrs. Jack White was berated with text messages and e-mails from her husband.
The document also claimed that White pulled their children out of a certain class at their private school because a child of a musician who the former White Stripes frontman believes "stole" his music was also in it. That musician is apparently none other than Black Keys' vocalist Dan Auerbach. TMZ has obtained copies of e-mails from White to Elson expressing his concern over the matter.
My concern with Auerbach is because I don't want the kids involved in any of that crap," he writes. You aren’t thinking ahead. That’s a possible twelve f-----g years I'm going to have to be sitting in kids chairs next to that a--hole with other people trying to lump us in together. He gets yet another free reign to follow me around and copy me and push himself into my world.
Apparently Nashville isn't big enough for two blues rockers known for being in bands with a color in their name. White and Elson will appear in court August 29 for a custody hearing. The Detroit native doesn't seem to thrilled judging by the last e-mail below.
"Now we can have a nice horrible mediation," White writes. "THANKS A TON KAREN, YOU'RE MAKING MY LIFE SO GREAT FOR ME THE CHILDREN AND EVERYONE WE KNOW."
