Answers.com posted a list of each state's most iconic restaurant. They go through every state, so you can plot out a trip to each of them, and see what that state is supposed to be about. Not having been in Michigan even two years yet, I haven't yet been to the pick for Michigan: Bavarian Inn.

Is it good enough to be Michigan's 'iconic' restaurant?

Don't get me wrong, I love me some good German food. I haven't tried this place yet, so I don't know how theirs is. Is the building cool, is the atmosphere awesome? What makes this place so iconic that it would be Michigan's most iconic restaurant?

If not Bavarian Inn, what would you nominate as Michigan's most iconic restaurant? Could be anything, right?

New Mexico's El Pinto is okay. I've had much better Mexican food, and much better Tex-Mex food. But the building is nice, and it's been around a while. I haven't tried their red chile ribs, though, and they sound like they'd be amazing. Does that qualify it as 'iconic'?

The Salt Lick in Texas is iconic in that everyone knows about it, and they do have some pretty good food. Is it the best? There are better BBQ joints. But the Salt Lick had an all-you-can-eat BBQ offer when I was there, and it is pretty famous for a restaurant.
