Iron Maiden are about to release their 16th album this summer, on September 4th, called 'The Book of Souls'! I'm such a huge Maiden fan, I've been geeking out about this all day. This is also their first double album, clocking in at something like 92 minutes!

They wrote this one a bit differently, with a lot of the music being written in the studio, rather than being brought in a tweaked by the band. They also recorded it in the same studio in Paris, with Kevin Shirley, that they'd recorded 'Brave New World'.

This album also has a couple songs written solely by Bruce Dickinson, including the longest song ever recorded by Iron Maiden, 'Empire of the Clouds', clocking in at over 18 minutes!

Heck, the shortest song on the albums is 4:59, with three songs over 10 minutes long!

I really like the way the band has been stretching out on the last few albums, and 'A Matter of Life and Death' was freaking amazing, and 'The Final Frontier' having so many incredible moments, too!

Maiden will hit the road in 2016, as they was for Bruce to get back into fighting shape after his recent cancer treatment. His doctors have cleared him to go, so now he's working on getting back into Bruce-shape for the shows, which if you've ever seen them live, is ridiculously high-energy conditioning.

I can't wait for the new album(s)!
