Detroit Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias is best known for his glove, but it was his bat that delivered Friday afternoon, April 17th, against the Chicago White Sox.

Iglesias slapped a single past White Sox second baseman Emilio Bonifacio in the bottom of the ninth inning to plate Andrew Romine and give the Tigers a 2-1 win over Chicago.

Though Iglesias will get the majority of the recognition for his game-winning hit, the true stars of the game were starting pitchers David Price and Jeff Samardzija.

Price pitched eight innings, striking out nine, and giving up only a single run, which came via a home run hit by former Tigers outfielder Avisail Garcia. Samardzija also worked eight innings, giving up eight hits, including a home run to Tigers designated hitter Yoenis Cespedes.

The Tigers are now 9-1 for only the third time since World War I, according to ESPN. The other two times: 1968 and 1984, the years of the last two Detroit Tigers' World Series championships. The Tigers also currently own the best record in Major League Baseball.

The Tigers will look to win their tenth game of the season tomorrow, April 18th, when they send Anibal Sanchez to the hill to face White Sox ace Chris Sale.
