The massive pileup on I-94 yesterday in which one person died and 23 were injured, has blood centers asking for donations.

Carleen Crawford, Michigan Blood's director of community relations, told WZZM-13 that O negative blood is particularly in demand since it's universal, meaning anyone can accept it.

Crawford explains,

"Traumas like this--catastrophes like this--put real pressure on our inventory, so we've got to make sure that we're ready to meet the needs of our partner hospitals not only there (in Battle Creek and Kalamazoo) but in Grand Rapids and we're trying to replenish that,"

If you would like to donate, Michigan Blood's main office in Grand Rapids is at 1039 Fuller Ave. NE . There is also an donation center 524 East Milham Ave. in Portage.
