Home Builders Association of Grand Rapids to Host Construction Only Job Fair [Video]

The Home Builders Association of Greater Grand Rapids along with other organizations is holding the first ever Construction Only Job Fair.

It's June 25, 11a.m. to 1p.m. at the Michigan Works building in Grand Rapids at 215 Straight Ave. NW.

Nelson VanElderen of the Home Builders Association told Fox 17, there simply aren’t enough skilled workers to keep up with the construction growth.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics jobs in construction are expected to grow up to 25 percent through 2020, thanks in part to the increase in the housing market.

VanElderen says not only residential but also commercial construction that is growing in West Michigan. He adds that about 20 organizations will be at the job fair looking to hire people of all experience levels.
