Winter officially does not arrive until next month, but it sure feels like it's already here, doesn't it?

The National Weather Service's Grand Rapids Office has issued a winter storm warning in effect from this afternoon through 9 p.m. Tuesday. The bottom lines: heavy lake-effect and blowing snow.

From the National Weather Service's Grand Rapids Office:

Lake effect snow will increase in coverage and intensity this afternoon, becoming heavy at times by evening.

"Winds will also ramp up into the 15 to 30 mph range out of the west through the course of the day. The evening commute will likely be affected by snow and blowing snow. Temperatures will be falling through the 20s today, so expect roads to become snow covered and slick later today. The heaviest snow will likely occur Tonight into Tuesday morning.
