A whole day dedicated to the awesomeness of beer?

I'll drink to that!

It might sound like a made up holiday, but today (April 7) is National Beer Day!

According the Internet, at least. And we all know that if you read it online, it must be true...

But hey, Forbes says it's legit!:

National Beer Day falls on April 7 and commemorates the day that beer was once again allowed to be legally manufactured and sold following a long, dry Prohibition."

April 7, 1933 is the day the Cullen Harrison- Act, supported by Pres. Franklin D. Roosevelt, went into effect: Beer was legal for the first time in 13 years!

I think that's certainly something to celebrate.

Especially here in West Michigan!

Grand Rapids is the reining Beer City USA (and will continue to be, as the magazine that crowned us decided to discontinue the contest) and crowned by USA Today “America’s Best Beer Town” in 2014.

And, Groupon just named Grand Rapids the No. 1 Place to Visit in the US in part because of GR's "booming craft brewing industry."

With tons of breweries in West Michigian, it's safe to say that we dig our craft beer!

WGRD is highlighting these excellent local breweries and their delicious brews with WGRD Beers of the Month.

See which West Michigan-born beers to try this month here!

And cheers! Happy National Beer Day!
