Following his arrest last Friday, April 17th, in North Carolina, the Detroit Lions have released guard Rodney Austin.

According to DetroitLions.com, Austin was arrested Friday by the Mecklenburg Police Department in North Carolina and charged with assault on a female, interfering with emergency communication, assault of a child under 12, and misdemeanor larceny.

Austin spent the 2012 season on the Detroit Lions practice squad. He also spent parts of the 2013 and 2014 seasons on the practice squad. In 2014, he was signed to the active roster, but only appeared in one game.

The Lions are expected to draft an interior offensive lineman during next week's NFL Draft. They've also spoke with veteran left guard Rob Sims about a possible return, according to the team's website.
