UPDATE 1:00 p.m.: Police describe the suspect as a black male, in his late 20's, who is between 5'8 and 6'0 with an athletic build. He was last seen wearing a 3/4 length black coat with light brown fur around the hood and dark pants.

The suspect got in the passenger side of a 2004-2013 BMW 3 series. It's either a 2 or 4 door sedan with market alloy wheels and after market tinted windows.

UPDATE 11:20 a.m.: GRPD Public Information Officer Josh Cutney spoke to the press Tuesday morning to give an update on the robbery. The robbery occurred around 10:08 a.m., and the suspect fled the scene shortly thereafter. No injuries have been reported. Police are still working the scene and have no released a suspect description at this time.

The Grand Rapids Police Department are responding to an alleged bank robbery on the city's northeast side.

The GRPD sent out a tweet around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday, stating that there was heavy police presence in the area of the Independent Bank near the intersection of Plainfield Ave. and Fuller Ave. following a bank robbery.
