GRD Listeners Sound Off On New Megadeth Song ‘Dystopia’ [Video, Poll]

WGRD debuted Megadeth's news song “Dystopia” on the Liquid Lunch today.

The song  is the title track to Megadeth's 15th album, released Jan 22, 2016.

Frontman Dave Mustaine talked with WGRD's Johnnie Walker about beginning to write the album, if he had a plan in mind:

I don't know that I had that clear of thinking at the time, I just know that I was really frustrated because of all the road blocks that had happened, some of them were self-imposed, some of them were stuff that people we had parted ways with kind of left us a parting gift of a big giant heap of crap to deal with... But I think all of that stuff when you package it and. compartmentalize it and start to process it, you get a good idea of what you are made of. Are you going to lay down like a dog... and give up? Or do you say, I've had a career where this stuff happens all the time, it's never phased me and I'm not going to give up, especially not now."

Dystopia is the band's highest charting album in 24 years, debuting at No. 3 On the Billboard 200.

The album is getting positive reviews from critics; A reviewer at the Guardian writes:

Dystopia is an absolutely blistering return to the state-of-the-art bombast and refined technicality of past glories like Rust in Peace and Endgame. New guitarist Kiko Loureiro and drummer Chris Adler (who also plays in Lamb of God) have brought vitality and momentum in vast amounts, the latter’s percussive precision giving every riff an explosive impact; the former’s preposterous skills matching Mustaine’s own blazing lead breaks note-for-note. But it’s the sense of conviction that seals the deal: MegaDave sounds fired-up and furious throughout."
