Anthrax put on an amazing show Friday night at 20 Monroe Live and even stopped by the GRD studio to play some acoustic songs for us! The band is touring in support of their new album, "For All Kings". As one of the bonus tracks on the expanded edition, they covered Kansas' "Carry on Wayward Son."

GRD debuted it, wanting to hear what people think. Check out some thoughts and opinions, then listen to the cover and let us know what you think!

"For All Kings", out in February, is the band's 11th album.

In March, Anthrax released a limited edition "For All Kings" 7″ box set with 10 7-inch vinyl discs. The set includes demo versions, a previous Japan-only track, the Kansas cover, and a cover of the White Stripes' "Black Math". Get it here!

Kansas drummer Phil Ehart shared his praise of the Anthrax cover with Ultimate Classic Rock:

I listened to it and I was very impressed. And flattered that those guys would do that. It’s pretty cool. We’ve had a lot of covers over the years. A lot of people have covered ‘Dust in the Wind,’ and a lot of people have covered ‘Carry on Wayward Son,’ and it’s always flattering... We just always appreciate people thinking our music is worth covering... I just had a lot of fun listening to [someone else] interpret it, and man, they rocked right through it. They’re a great band, so it’s not like it would have been anything less.”

Here are some GRD listeners’ thoughts on Anthrax's version of "Carry on Wayward Son". What do you think of it? Check it out and take the poll below!
