Stanton grandmother, 71-year-old Karol Fitzgerald, who's accused of leaving her granddaughter in a hot car while she shopped at the Alpine Walmart, has been arraigned, WZZM-13 reports.

They found a 2-year-old girl in the back seat of a running car. At first the child was unresponsive. Police entered the car, and were able to wake the girl, who was taken to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital and treated for heat exhaustion.

Fitzgerald was found shopping inside the store.

She's been arraigned on a misdemeanor charge of leaving a child unattended in a car. If convicted, Fitzgerald could spend up to 93 days in jail.
