I love Grand Rapids and all it has to offer with local music, so I decided why not feature local bands here on wgrd.com! Today's featured The Legal Immigrants, they answered a few questions for me below! Check them out, and if you're in a local band who wants to be featured fill out this form. I don’t just feature anyone, so don’t suck and you’ll get the Jackie stamp of approval ;) Find me on facebook too, to follow all your favorite local bands, and GRD news by clicking HERE

Band Name
The Legal Immigrants
Name
Joe Bockheim
Email
joebockheim@me.com
Who are all the members of your band, and what do they play?
Joseph Bockheim The First: rhythm ga-tar, sing-a-ring-ding-dong

Trevor Reidsma- the MAIN ga-tar

Anthony "Luscious" Lubenow- little drummer boy

Stefan Schwartz- Bass (pronounced "bass") and stage-right vocals

When did the band get together, and how?
The only reason we know the exact day is because it was the day after Michael Jackson died. Not sure if it had anything to do with that, but thats when it started. Kind of ironic because at that time we were "Bad."

How would you describe your music to someone?
real.

We play authentic rock n' roll. No pirate voices, no spandex, no makeup, and all our music isn't in drop D tuning.
Who are some of the bands that influence your music?
The Beatles and Led Zeppelin and repeat. There are so many other influential bands, but those two bands literally made me want to be a musician.
What other bands have your members been/are in?
This is Joe's first and only band. Tony played with a few dirt bags in years past. Trevor use to play with Buddy Twist, and Stefan has played at least one show in every band in town.
What other local bands would you recommend people check out?
oh gosh. I'd have to give a shout out too Devin & The Dead Frets.....they get it.
Where is your favorite place to play in Grand Rapids?
Absolutely no preference, we would play in your moms living room if people showed up.
Where can we catch you performing next?
Mulligan on Oct. 18th is the last time we are playing in GR this year. If you have an adventurous spirit, and a little gas money, you can catch us on the road out in rock n' roll land. "liking" our Facebook page is the best way to keep informed.

That's it, no more questions?
