I love Grand Rapids and all it has to offer with local music, so I decided why not feature local bands here on wgrd.com! Today's featured Pass Of Aggression, they answered a few questions for me below! Check them out, and if you're in a local band who wants to be featured fill out this form. I don’t just feature anyone, so don’t suck and you’ll get the Jackie stamp of approval ;) Find me on facebook too, to follow all your favorite local bands, and GRD news by clicking HERE

Band Name
Pass of Aggression
Who are all the members of your band, and what do they play?
John Lee - Vocalist
R.O.B. - Guitarist/backup vocals
"Sir" Matt Nelson - Guitarist (Also a tattoo artist at the Gremlin Gallery on 28th St)
Marc Courtright - Drummer
Ian "Tweak" Sniesak - Bassist/Backup Vocal/High-strung individual.
When did the band get together, and how?
The band started as "Vintage" back in 2004... as members left and were replaced the sound went from a throwback Faith No More vibe to more of a Rage Against the Machine sound... The new members deserved the opportunity to have a say in the band name, also touring outside of West Michigan was an uphill battle because most venues assumed the band was an all cover classic rock band... Which was not the case. So the members decided on a new name that was a thought provoking play on term that is probably one of the biggest personality flaws each of the members have. We turned your weakness into strength.
How would you describe your music to someone?
Our music would appeal to fans of bands like Rage Against the Machine, Nonpoint, P.O.D., Papa Roach or Hollywood Undead. It's Hard Rock with a huge influence from Hip Hop, Metal, Nu-Metal, Grunge & Punk.
Who are some of the bands that influence your music?
Really depends on the member of the band you ask. Each members influences are driven from so many different directions. Overall most influential bands would be bands like Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit & Rage Against the Machine but also lesser known acts like Critical Bill and even several local acts that put on some fantastic shows.
What other bands have your members been/are in?
John Lee also performs with a Rage Against the Machine Tribute band with EastTown Recording Studio's Lance Eichler. John also performs and records under the pseudonym, Khamelijon, which is a Hip-Hop solo side project. It's available on iTunes, Spotify, etc...
Marc used to drum for a few different punk bands but the most well known was Blackout. An Underground punk band that toured and performed with bands like Tool, North Lincoln & Whirlwind Heat.
"Sir" Matt Nelson is a veteran of the Grand Rapids Metal scene and most notably played guitar for Blood that Burns.
What other local bands would you recommend people check out?
There are way to many to name so we'll just name a few that we've played with most recently:
Release the Crimson
Night of 1000 Knives
Kill Tomorrow
6 Prong Paw
Seraphim
the Severed Process
Flood the Desert
Walden (pond)
Bulls on Parade (RATM Tribute Band)
From Hell
SIN THEOREM
& countless others, sorry if we didn't mention you but i'm running out of space.
Where is your favorite place to play in Grand Rapids?
The Intersection has been like a second home to us since "Stan's" in Dorr, MI Closed. All the original members of our band (including John & R.O.B.) grew up in either Dorr or Hopkins, MI. So it was nice having a venue we could frequent at least once a month to hang out with all our friends. However, the Intersection brings tons of Awesome bands like Nonpoint, hed PE, Mushroomhead, Hatebreed, Black Stone Cherry and more. Some of which we've gotten a chance to kick it with 'em for a bit and have gotten some good mentor-ship from them. Scott and the staff at the Intersection really LOVE local music and they show it.
