I love Grand Rapids and all it has to offer with local music, so I decided why not feature local bands here on wgrd.com! Today's featured Cities and Saints, they answered a few questions for me below! Check them out, and if you're in a local band who wants to be featured fill out this form. I don’t just feature anyone, so don’t suck and you’ll get the Jackie stamp of approval ;) Find me on facebook too, to follow all your favorite local bands, and GRD news by clicking HERE

Band Name
Cities and Saints

Who are all the members of your band, and what do they play?
Marty Lamain - Vocals, Keys
Evan Walters - Guitar
Scott Walters - Bass Guitar
Adam Visser - Drums

When did the band get together, and how?
Cities and Saints began in December of 2009. Adam, Evan, and Scott
were in a previous band together and wanted to pursue a new project.
They scouted Marty (a Cornerstone University vocal major at the time)
playing an acoustic show at a local coffee shop.

How would you describe your music to someone?
Melodic, alternative rock; similar to Anberlin, Mayday Parade, and
Paramore. We strongly believe a song is not worth playing if it is not
catchy, energizing, and inspiring.

Who are some of the bands that influence your music?
Anberlin, Muse, Paramore, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, My Chemical Romance,
RED, Skillet

What other bands have your members been/are in?
Echo After, Three Chord Statement

What other local bands would you recommend people check out?
Uncommon Road, Wake Up Call, Carielle

Where is your favorite place to play in Grand Rapids?
We really liked MXTP. As an all-ages venue, it provided a great
environment for listeners of all ages. Of course, it's always fun to
play at The Intersection and Orbit Room with their great stage and
sound.

Where can we catch you performing next?
Oct 12th - TBA - Grand Rapids, MI
Nov 9th - Lemonjellos - Holland, MI

Make sure to check out our brand new album "Lead the Escape" produced
by Ben Kasica (Skillet) on Itunes and Spotify!
