Grand Rapids Police Investigating a Murder Near GRCC Parking Ramp
Grand Rapids Police are investigating a homicide near the Grand Rapids Community College parking ramp on Bostwick Avenue near Lyon Street.
Police responded to a call around 2:45 a.m. Saturday when the received a call from a witness who said that they had seen someone drag what appeared to be a body into the bushes.
Police arrived at the scene and found a woman dead in the bushes. She is believed to be in her 30's or 40's. Police are working to find out her identity. It's unclear if she was a student at GRCC. Blood was found at the scene, but police are unsure how she died.
Police say the suspect fled north from the scene. He is described as a black man in his 20's or 30's. He is around 6 feet tall with short hair or possibly no hair. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and dark pants.
GRCC sent a notification to all staff and students regarding the incident.
