Grand Rapids High Schools Ranked Among Best in the U.S. by Newsweek

Today Newsweek announced their 2015 high school rankings. It includes "America’s Top High Schools”, a list of 500 schools that excel at preparing students for college, and  “Beating the Odds”, a list of 500 public high schools doing an exceptional job of preparing students from disadvantaged backgrounds for college.

Three Grand Rapids high schools made "America's Top High Schools" and "Beating the Odds"! 

Throughout Michigan, 22 schools made it into the top 500 in each category.

Newsweek looked at a broad range of data to determine the rankings, including ACT scores, SAT scores, counselor-student ratios, and participation in dual enrollment.

Here are the Grand Rapids schools and their rankings in the "America's Top High Schools" category:

43. City Middle/ High School 
99. East Grand Rapids High School
271. Central High School

In the  "Beating the Odds" category:

42. City Middle/ High School
257. East Grand Rapids High School
438. Central High School
