Christmas has come to an end. And, if you had a real Christmas tree this year, it's time for you to figure out how to get rid of it.

Luckily, if you live in the city of Grand Rapids, it is offering free Christmas tree recycling starting Jan. 2, 2014.

All you have to do is make sure you remove all ornaments, tinsel, nails and any other decorations before bringing it to be disposed of.

Trees can be taken to one of four locations between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. seven days a week until Jan. 31.

The locations are:

  • Riverside Park (north entrance), 2001 Monroe Ave. NE
  • Jaycee McKay Family Park, 2531 Kalamazoo Ave. SE
  • Lincoln Park, 398 Garfield St. NW
  • Huff Park, 2286 Ball St. NE

If you don't want to bother with bringing your tree somewhere, you can have the city pick it up on your normal garbage pickup day by attaching a $1.50 bulk yard waste tag to the tree.
