This is incredibly awesome! A little while ago I posted a Kickstarter campaign for a local video game convention trying to get up off the ground. GR8Bit started as a concert with the proceeds going to Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital.

Now, thanks to the Kickstarter backers GR8Bit Live! has expanded from small concert to concert and video game convention!

Like I have mentioned before, I attended the second GR8Bit concert at The Pyramid Schemein Grand Rapids, and it was a lot of fun.

Grand Rapids of course has the big comic convention every year, but what about something for the video gamers? That dream has become a reality thanks to entrepreneur Mark Lago of Grand Rapids, MI. Mark also plays in a local group named Playing with Power, whom will be performing at GR8Bit Live 3 on July 11.

The Kickstarter which ended a few days ago was seeking $6000. It surpassed that goal with $6195!

Thanks to all of the backers for the event, GR8Bit Live 3 is FREE to anyone who would like to attend! Thanks to the amazing-ness and the donations, I bet this is going to be a pretty stuffed event. It's really cool to see something like this get built from gamers (like me) and get fully funded from the community.

If you'd like more info for GR8Bit Live or even like to get involved, join them on Facebook or check out their website.

Congrats, Mark and GR8Bit! I can't wait until the convention!
