Godsmack frontman Sully Erna recently hinted that a campaign was coming to aid military personnel that was based around their new single "What's Next?" Now the details of that campaign have been revealed.

The band has joined forces with The Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital's Home Base program in an effort to raise awareness and donations for the needs of post 9/11 military vets. The Home Base program was created to help heal veterans and their families of such wounds of war as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries. The initiative emphasizes critical care, wellness-based programs, community outreach and education. So far, Home Base has served over 7,500 veterans and family members.

As for Godsmack, they've created a special online donation page and those who donate will receive a free download of the "What's Next" single. Go here to make your donation. Watch a trailer with the band members discussing their participation in the campaign posted above.

In a statement, the band said, "We felt that this song represented the story. It’s about the only things that are certain—life and death—but ‘What’s Next’ has always been the big mystery. For these noble brave soldiers who put their lives on the line every day for us to allow us to live freely and fearlessly in the greatest country in the world, they don’t know what’s next now, and they need our help.”

Brigadier General Jack Hammond, executive director of Home Base, added, "Godsmack has a lot of fans in the military community, and it's great that they have partnered with Home Base to raise much needed funds for the community."

Godsmack are currently touring in support of the 1000hp album. The disc has already spawned the lead single / title track as well as the follow-up "Something Different." "What's Next?" is beginning its climb up the charts as the band's third single from the disc.
