Did we travel back in time? Gasoline is the cheapest it has been in five years in West Michigan!

GasBuddy.com reports there are five gas stations in Greenville selling gas for $1.99! Plus, three stations in Lowell that are right at $2. In Grand Rapids, looks like the cheapest is $2.23.

According to WZZM-13, the last time gas prices fell below $2 in West Michigan was during the economic crash of 2009.

Sounds like the low prices will stick around for while, which is great news if you are traveling for the holidays!

AAA projects an increase in holiday travel this year.

Up four percent more than last year, AAA says 98.6 million Americans will journey 50 miles or more from home during the year-end holiday season.

Marshall L. Doney, AAA's president and chief operating officer, said:

"Lower gas prices are filling stockings with a little more cash to spend on travel this year as travelers are expected to pay the lowest prices since 2009. Lower prices are increasing disposable income and enabling families to set aside money for travel this year."
