What's the fastest that someone has pedaled a bike?

Fifty miles per hour? Seventy MPH? One hundred MPH?

Those guesses are all too low.

It turns out that in 1985, John Howard set the bicycle land speed record with an astounding speed of 152.2 MPH.

Yup, you read that right.

Now, that figure is a bit deceiving because Howard was actually pulled up to the speed by a car on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. However, he was then released and managed to pedal and maintain that speed for a short distance.
