About 30 years ago, Stanford University Professor Andrei Linde was one of the first to come up with the cosmic inflation theory.

It's basically the theory that a big bang about 14 billion years ago created the universe, causing gravitational waves, or ripples, in space-time.

However, it was just that: a theory. Until Monday that is.

In this video, Assistant Professor Chao-Lin Kuo went to Linde's house and presented him with the evidence, or the "smoking gun," that supports his decades-old theory.

Now, whether you believe in the Big Bang Theory or not doesn't matter. What's cool about this is seeing the look on Linde's face when it is confirmed to him that his work over the last 30 years hasn't been a complete waste. That's pretty cool.
