How does a report like this make it to television without anyone saying "Wait, what?!"

Fox Business Channel recently reported that, bad news guys, attendance to the Super Bowl over the past couple years has been declining.

Say it ain't so!

Despite having an attendance of more than 100,000 in 2011, attendance at this year's Super Bowl XLIX is expected to be in the 75,000 to 80,000 range at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., on Feb. 1. Playing in the game are the New England Patriots, a 45-7 winner over Indianapolis, and the defending champion Seattle Seahawks, which beat the Green Bay Packers 28-22 in overtime on Sunday.

But why? What's causing people to not go to the game?

The answer is simple. The stadiums hosting the game the last few years have lower capacities than AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, that hosted Super Bowl XLV in 2011. While it had usual capacity of 80,000, it was expanded to 110,000 for the Super Bowl.

So, yes, while attendance has technically declined for the NFL championship, it's because there aren't enough seats.

It would be very difficult for 110,000 people to attend this year, when the stadium holds less than 80,000.

Great reporting, Fox Business Channel!
