A 48,900 square foot facility will be used for a new Ford Ranger bumper program in West Michigan. The $5 million investment will create 109 jobs in West Michigan.

Yesterday, The Right Place, the Ionia County Economic Alliance, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the City of Ionia announced that Ventra Ionia, will bring the jobs with an expansion in Ionia.

Ventra Ionia plans to purchase an existing 48,900 square feet facility at 1790 East Blue Water Hwy in Ionia which is adjacent to its existing facility. The expansion is expected to create 109 jobs and an investment of up to $4,850,000.

The purchase will allow the company to move an existing portion of the business to the newly purchased building, freeing up space in the main facility for the new Ford Ranger bumper program. The new program is likely to include assembly, paint, and/or chrome finishing.

Flex-N-Gate is Ventra Ionia's parent company. They are headquartered in Urbana, Ill. and employ more than 26,000 people at 62 manufacturing, development, product and engineering facilities throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, China, Germany, France and Spain.

Several other states, including existing locations in Illinois and Indiana, were also in the running for the project.
