Foo Fighters Share New Music, Rip Trump Supporters During Comeback Show

We still don’t have any confirmed news about a new album from Foo Fighters, but we know they have a few songs written. The band performed bits of them on Thursday during their surprise show at the Cheese and Grain club in Frome, England to announce their headlining slot at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The above video was found by Alternative Nation, with the person creating the video giving them the tentative titles of “Keep Your Pretty Promise” and “Run With Me.” Both were played in the middle of existing songs, with the former coming during “The Pretender” and the latter being unveiled during “This Is a Call.”

Dave Grohl also used the show as an opportunity to take a swipe at supporters of President Donald Trump. The video has since been taken down, but NME is reporting that Grohl introduced “Wheels,” a song from their 2009 Greatest Hits compilation, by saying, “This song we don’t do at home because if you haven’t noticed, pretty much half of America is a little f—ed right now.” According to Setlist, it was last played domestically at a surprise nine-song gig by Grohl at Nashville’s Bluebird Cafe in 2014, although not at a full Foo Fighters U.S. concert since 2011.

Last night, Foo Fighters posted a note written by Grohl to their Facebook page. “Hey….Just wanted to write and say ‘Thank you’ to all involved tonight because I’m still buzzing from our first gig in 1 year, 3 months, and ten days (but who’s counting). Shaking off the dust for the sweet people of Frome was the best way to dive into another year….and many more surprises. Stay tuned.”

This is the second public appearance by Foo Fighters since ending their hiatus. Two weeks ago, they performed a pair of Tom Petty songs at MusiCares’ annual Person of the Year benefit.
