Winter driving can be a pain in the butt, but it certainly doesn't help when the top two worst winter intersections are in your area.

In all, five of the top 20 intersections for winter accidents are in the Grand Rapids area.

44th Street -- I'm looking at you.

The list, which was put together by the Michigan Auto Law blog, says the top two intersections for crashes under what they refer to as 'winter conditions', are 44th Street SE at Eastern Ave SE and 44th Street SE at Breton St SE.

Accidents in winter driving conditions are defined as car crashes that occurred in November through March, cumulative for the past five years, in snowy, slushy or icy conditions.

According to the blog:

..the majority of these car accidents are occurring in West Michigan. As most Michiganders know, the dynamics of lake affect snow create a significant additional hazard for many drivers in these areas.

Um, I hate to be a grammar Nazi, but it's lake EFFECT.

Earlier this winter, Grand Rapids also dominated a list of the most dangerous winter roads in the state, which adds freeways to the equation.

Now to the Grand Rapids intersections on the list. According to Michigan Auto Law, these West Michigan intersections are among the state's top 20 most dangerous in the winter
