FBI Employee Shoots at Police at Grand Rapids Planet Fitness

UPDATE: WZZM-13 reports that the suspect is FBI agent Ruben Hernandez, who was in town from Las Vegas on business. He is being held on three charges: Assault with intent to murder, discharging a firearm at or near a building, and possession of a firearm while under the influence.

Grand Rapids Police are investigating an early morning shooting at Planet Fitness on 28th Street.

WZZM-13 reports that a 35-year-old man walked into the gym around 2a.m. Tuesday and showed off a gun. He then fired three shots outside. He was later identified to be an FBI employee.

Around seven people were in the gym at the time; they were uninjured.

When police arrived, the suspect shot at a sergeant who was attempting to make contact with him.

The man fled and was arrested at gunpoint in a parking lot north of Center Point Mall.

Police have notified the FBI in Detroit.
