The Eastern Michigan Eagles play in the Mid-American Conference, which sold their soul to the devil (ESPN) and forces its teams to play Tuesday night games.

That means the Eagles will play in Muncie, Ind. on Election Night. So why not turn it into a civics lesson and wear helmets encouraging everyone watching to go vote?

The Eagles will wear these special 'Election' helmets with the undying hope that the few fans who actually watch Tuesday night football will rush out and vote before the polls close.

But the 7:30pm start time will mean it'll be a tight half hour to vote in their home state. Perhaps someone will be watching on the West Coast who will be inspired by seeing the name of James Polk on a football helmet and rush out to cast a ballot. Who knows?

They look sharp and I admire the effort.
