Believe it or not, before everyone had a smart phone, owning an actual computer was a luxury.

I can't think of one household that I know, friend and family, that does not own a computer. I am not just talking a game console, phone, etc. I'm talking a hardcore desktop computer. If computers didn't exist, I wouldn't even have a job I bet.

Do you remember your first computer though?

Once again, I have owned computers since I was basically born. Although it's not considered a desktop computer, a Nintendo is a sort of computer, but I am talking keyboard, mouse, disk drive, etc.

The first computer that my family ever owned was built by a family friend, so it really didn't have a manufacturer. If I can remember, which I really can't because of how young I was, I think my parents paid around $1000 for it!

In today's world, paying over $1000 for a desktop computer is kind of insane, unless it's a Mac or a really high end PC. (I payed around that for my Mac Mini, and it was well worth it).

It ran Windows 95, had little to no memory on it, and could barely run games. It was also hooked up with a 56k modem which just screeched when you logged into America Online and the only email that we ever had was my brother Juno account, which was a email service that was specifically for email! Remember, having email was a luxury back then too! I remember a few games that could run on it, like Spycraft, Grand Theft Auto, and a few other things, but the resolution and processor was awful.

Like loading a nude picture, it was incredibly choppy and took forever to load pretty much anything.

Besides playing games on it, what did I spend most of time actually doing? Messing around with Microsoft paint of course, as a kid, what else could you do?
