In Wright Township Michigan, two people who were riding a trike were killed by a suspected drunk driver.

According to WOOD TV, a suspected drunk driver was arrested Sunday night after a crash near Coopersville.

The crash was at the intersection of Cleveland Street and 40th Avenue in Wright Township. It happened just before 10 p.m.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office said both people were thrown from the the trike when struck by a southbound SUV in the intersection. Both riders died from their injuries while at the hospital.

The driver of the trike was 72-year-old Larry Hein and passenger was 67-year-old Joyce Hein. Both riders were wearing their helmets at the time of the crash.

Authorities have not released the name of the driver of the jeep who is waiting to be arraigned. The driver has been detained at the Ottawa County Jail for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office says the crash remains under investigation.
