A Des Moines, Iowa physician named Daniel Baldi has been formally charged with 8 counts of involuntary manslaughter for alledgedly prescribing massive amounts of narcotic painkillers to patients who later died of drug overdoses, including musician, Paul Gray.  Gray, a founding member of Slipknot, died of an overdose in May, 2010.

The 50-year-old Baldi faces a possibility of up to 16 years in prison if convicted.  The charging documents released Wednesday said Baldi “did unintentionally cause the death of Paul Gray by the commission of an act likely to cause death or serious injury, to-wit, continually wrote high-dose prescription narcotics to a known drug addict from 12/27/2005 until his death.”
