I understand these people think they've chosen a cool career of crime, and that everyone should respect their skillz at hacking. And you know, there are some hackers to be terrified of, and they can do a lot of damage. But at least make it look like you're TRYING HARD to get our info, and scam us.

If you come up with an ingenious plot and pull it off, that's one thing. If you just put in less than half your ass in effort, it just seems silly and pathetic.

Take some of the friend requests we get on Facebook, Instagram, or other social media. I always look at who's made the request, and there are a few things that will usually tip you off to a bad scammer:

Instagram Thing
I got this one on Instagram today. Once I saw how hot she is, I knew it was a scam!

  • They just joined Facebook in the last few days. BIG hint, especially if they're attractive and 'popular'.
  • They're super hot.
  • They have 10 friends, and they've all become friends within the last two days.
  • They're super hot.
  • They screw up things like in the photo above, where it's supposed to be a woman, yet 'he' changed 'his' profile photo.
  • They're super hot.
  • They have prominent links to 'check out my uncensored pics!!!!!!'
  • If you follow these simple rules, it can help you avoid the Friend Scammers out there. For a while there, some geniuses had figured out how to do amazingly bad things once you became their friend, and then the'd start contacting your friends, or lock out your page...just try to be safe.

Practice safe interneting, but remember, the only truly effective protection is abstinence. Hahaha...that just popped into my head! I made me laugh.
