The Jeff Blashill era is about to begin in Detroit, as the Red Wings have called a press conference for Tuesday, June 9th, to introduce him as the team's next head coach.

Blashill will replace Mike Babcock, who decided to leave the Motor City for a record-breaking deal to coach the Toronto Maple Leafs.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Blashill's contract is expected to be for three years. The 41-year old Blashill will become the NHL's second youngest head coach.

Blashill has spent the last three seasons as head coach of the Grand Rapids Griffins.
