Detroit Red Wings Greats Lidstrom, Fedorov Elected to Hockey Hall of Fame
The Detroit Red Wings are sending two of their greats into the Hockey Hall of Fame, after it was announced Monday, June 29th, that both Nicklas Lidstrom and Sergei Fedorov would be enshrined later this year.
Lidstrom and Fedorov were drafted in the same year, 1989, by the Red Wings and spent 12 seasons together in Detroit.
In his 20-season career, Lidstrom produced over 1,100 points in more than 1,500 regular season games, according to the Red Wings official website. He also won seven Norris Trophines and four Stanley Cups during his NHL tenure.
Fedorov, meanwhile, spent 18 seasons in the NHL, the majority of which was spent in Detroit. He recorded over 1,100 points in just over 1,200 games, according to the Red Wings official website. He also won the Hart Trophy following the 1993-94 season.
Both Lidstrom and Federov were chosen in their first year of eligibility.
The 2015 Hockey Hall of Fame class will also feature Chris Pronger, Phil Housley, Angela Ruggiero, Peter Karmanos Jr. and Bill Hay.
