The Detroit Sports Commission has submitted an official bid to WWE to host Wrestlemania 31 and/or 32.

The bid is a joint effort between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario.  Windsor would host promotional events leading up to Wrestlemania, which would be held at Ford Field in Detroit.  The Detroit Sports Committee feels that having international appeal gives them an edge on other hopeful host cities.

Wrestlemania is desired because of the event's economic impact on the host city.  Detroit hosted Wrestlemania 23 at Ford Field in 2007 and it's estimated that $25 million was pumped into the city's economy.  The event set an all-time Ford Field attendance record of 80,103 including people from all 50 states, 24 countries and 9 Canadian provinces.

WWE will announce the city to host Wrestlemania 31 on August 1st.  WWE returns to Grand Rapids for Monday Night Raw on June 17th at Van Andel Arena.
