Detroit Lions fans who are hungry for playoff wins will remain hungry for at least one more year, but fans who are simply hungry will be happy to learn that they will be able to get their food a little faster at Ford Field next season.

The Detroit Lions quietly introduced a new mobile food and drink ordering service at the final two games of the regular season. The service requires the team's mobile app and gives fans a notification to pick up their orders about 10 minutes after placing it.

The service was initially only available to approximately 3,000 fans sitting in Grid Iron Club seats on the north end of Ford Field. The fans were able to order from the mobile menus of the four Detroit-themed restaurants: El Asador, Slows Bar-B-Q, Flowers of Vietnam and Bigalora Cucina. Paying $9 for a Miller Lite has never been easier.

The Lions plan to continue testing mobile ordering during some concerts and events in the months to come with a goal of rolling out the service to other seating locations during the 2018 NFL season, including the club on the south side of the stadium which has eight more restaurants.

It beats waiting in line, but it would be nice to see the service expand to all fans.

The Lions only added wifi to Ford Field last year which is helping to open the door to more changes to the app including a mobile ticketing and a mobile loyalty program this year.
