We love video games and we love TV, so someone saw fit to combine the two to give us Syfy's Defiance!

The people who brought us Battlestar Galactica and Farscape are bringing us another new sci-fi epic called Defiance, in which humans and groups of aliens called Votons must work together on a ravaged Earth.

What's cool is that gamers will be able to play a massively multiplayer third-person shooter that's based on the series, thanks to Trion Worlds. The live-action trailer below shows off the grittiness players will have to face in the game, as well as examples of human and alien enemies.

The game's setting will be an altered San Francisco Bay Area, where players will take on the roles of Ark Hunters who try to locate advanced alien technology. They'll also be able to engage in side missions and go up against their fellow Ark Hunters in challenges.

We're looking forward to seeing more from this game and we'll update you once more information is released. The game will make its debut on April 4th, 2013, which is about two weeks ahead of the show's April 15th, 2013 release, so players can soak in the world and its mythos.

You can reserve the game in both physical and digital formats here, with beta access guaranteed for those who pre-order, as well as other in-game bonuses like an Outlander outfit, a weapon, a three-day experience boost, and the "Iron Demon" title.

While you wait for the either the beta or the release of the game proper, check out the cool live-action trailer below. We don't know about you, but it's got us wanting to watch the show and play the game!
