The creepy clown trend epidemic continues to sweep across the U.S. -- and Michigan in particular it seems.

At least 20 Michigan communities are reporting clown sightings, and now video of a clown hanginging off the back of a Detroit Department of Transportation bus has gone viral.

According to CBS Detroit the video was posted to YouTube over the weekend, by user 23PACMAN23.

The video, which looks like it was filmed by someone driving alongside the bus, shows a creepy clown in a hospital gown with red hair and a menacing mask clinging to the back of a DDOT bus.

A caption of the video reads: "Clowns taking over the city."

No more information about the clown, location, or person who posted the video has been released.

DDOT issued this statement:

"The safety of our riders is DDOT's number one priority and that is why we have significantly increased our Transit Police presence and have installed surveillance cameras inside and outside of all of our DDOT coaches. We have forwarded the video to the Detroit Police Department for review."
