Credit Card Info Stolen From 42 Hotels In Michigan

Bad news if you’ve stayed recently at a Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Staybridge Suites or Candlewood Suites; your credit card info may be in the hands of thieves.

MLive is reporting that InterContinental Hotel Group which is the parent company of all those hotel brands has sent out a notice that credit card data was stole from hotels across the country which includes 42 hotels here in Michigan.

According to MLive, the press release from the IHG stated:

"The investigation identified signs of the operation of malware designed to access payment card data from cards used onsite at front desks at certain IHG-branded franchise hotel locations between September 29, 2016 and December 29, 2016,"

Thieves were able to get all the important info from the credit cards used at the hotels, such as the cardholder's name, credit card number, and expiration date.

MLive says hotels in the following cities were part of the security breach:

Of course, if you see weird charges on your credit card, call the issuing bank right away so they can stop the charges and you’re not held liable for it.
