Craigslist founder Craig Newmark has launched and online campaign to help those affected by the Flint water crisis.

Newmark has pledged to donate 100 cases of water to the United Way of Southeastern Michigan for every $20 donated to any CrowdRise campaign for Flint water crisis relief, the Detroit News reports.

Newmark pledges to donate up to 25,000 cases of water.

On the fundraising page, Newmark shares that he onced close lived close to Flint:

Folks, the lack of access to clean drinking water in Flint, Michigan is real bad. I want to put clean drinking water into the hands of every resident in Flint. For every $20 you donate to any CrowdRise campaign for the Flint Water Crisis Relief, craigconnects will match the donation with 100 cases (up to 25,000 cases) of water to be distributed to the residents in Flint by The United Way of Southeastern Michigan.

I actually spent about a decade living not too far Flint, so this really hits close to home for me. Water is one of the most basic human rights. We need folks like you from across the US to support the people of Flint right now.

Thanks so much for your support."

CrowdRise’s Flint fundraisers include programs with Pearl Jam and Jack White’s Third Man Records.
