In one of the strangest stories I've heard in awhile, Coheed And Cambria bassist Michael Todd was arrested for armed robbery Sunday night, BEFORE the band was set to open up for Soundgarden in Mansfield, MA!

TMZ reports (via Alternative Press) that Todd went into a local Walgreens and showed the pharmacist a cell phone note saying he had a bomb and demanded Oxycontin. The musician left with six bottles of the pain pills and fled in a taxi.

Police were later able to track the cab to the Comcast Center, the venue where Soundgarden and Coheed were scheduled to perform, and Todd was arrested without incident. He's charged with armed robbery and unlawful possession of prescription narcotics. The bassist is being held on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned today.

Sunday was the last night of Coheed And Cambria's opening slot duties for Soundgarden. The band released the following statement on their Tumblr page:

"Michael Todd was arrested today on what we consider very serious charges and therefore he will not be finishing up the current tour.  Wes Styles, long time member of the Coheed family will take on bass duties starting tomorrow for the remaining dates. No shows will be canceled."

"We are surprised to say the least and will address the situation with Michael after the tour. For now, we just want to have a great time out here and finish with some killer shows in Boston, Poughkeepsie, Quebec City and Halifax."

It's really sad to see Michael Todd make such a huge mistake. Hopefully he gets the help he needs.
